United Way of Southern Cameron County, in partnership with Telemundo 40 and Texas Southmost College, is offering a free community tax preparation event through the IRS-certified VITA (Volunteer Income Tax Assistance) program, designed to help individuals and families earning $67,000 or less accurately prepare and file their federal tax returns at no cost. Trained volunteers will provide one-on-one assistance and answer basic tax questions, making it easier for eligible residents to claim refunds and credits they may qualify for. The event is open to walk-ins, and attendees should bring all required tax documents, identification, Social Security cards for household members, and health insurance forms if applicable.
