A Message from the 2017-18 Board Chair

Dear friends of United Way,

I am both honored and humbled to serve as the Chair for the United Way of Southern Cameron County.  I follow a strong legacy of change leaders who have worked together with the United Way staff, committed board members and local business leaders to improve the lives and capacity of families in our community.

What began as a dream in 1955 with a $39,000 campaign led by Ruben Edelstein, has grown to a thriving servant organization that works to improve education, healthcare and increase the standard of living in Southern Cameron County.  Through your campaign contributions and partnerships with local entities we have created opportunities that directly impact lives!

I volunteer because I have experienced firsthand the direct impact of our community’s generosity.  I was a patient of the Moody Clinic for many years, and your contributions made healthcare affordable and available for families like mine.

Our goals in education, health and income are both BIG and bold.  But one of the many lessons I’ve learned as a United Way volunteer is anything is possible, when we LIVE UNITED.

I invite you to join us and be a part of something, big and bold. Come Live United with us.  I remain,

Very truly yours,
