I am so excited about being this year’s United Way Campaign Chair. I look forward to working with the United Way of Southern Cameron County’s Board of Directors, staff, and the countless community volunteers who make our annual campaigns successful.
United Way has been making a difference in our community for over 50 years. We have come a long way, but there is still so much that needs to be done in our community. What matters? Improving lives. Your United Way investments are at work 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year building brighter futures for our children, strengthening families and creating financial stability for hard-working people. By investing in United Way, you are not only making a commitment to the community, but you are making a measurable difference in the lives of your family, friends and neighbors.
We are looking forward to an exciting year with many family events including a half marathon, a cycling event and our annual campaign kickoff, A Day of Caring. I hope you will find a way to get involved, participate in the community events and support our great efforts. Because of you, your contribution and your volunteerism, United Way works. Thank you, thank you, thank you!

United Way of Southern Cameron County’s 2007 Day of Caring was a huge success! Sixteen volunteer teams, made up of over 250 volunteers, completed over 20 projects in one day.
United Way’s annual Day of Caring event connects volunteers with local nonprofit organizations to complete projects that may not otherwise get done. Projects range from taking children on a field trip to adding a fresh coat of paint on the walls of a transitional home. Day of Caring also provides an opportunity for volunteers to develop long-lasting relationships with colleagues and other community members. Day of Caring volunteers help to build a stronger community.
Thanks to our sponsor, Alltel Wireless, who made this day possible. And thanks to the local business community and their employees for volunteering to support our community.
